Nami from Kreoo – Salone Bagno

This stunning little number is Nami from Kreoo, as seen at this year’s Salone Bagno in Milan. Would you guess this basin is made from marble?

Nami from KreooWe’ve seen Kreoo at Salone Bagno for years and the company can be counted on to always bring us something new and exciting by using natural stone and natural materials in ways that seem to defy nature – see here, here and here.

Nami from KreooDesigned by Enzo Berti for the 2016 Bath Collection, Nami from Kreoo pays homage to Italian art history and more specifically, to the drapery of Michelangelo’s Pietà, Virgin’s dress. In a game of lights and shadows, marble is presented as a light, moveable material – almost like fabric.

Although in reality, of course, Nami from Kreoo is the product of an industrial process and modeled by skilled master craftsman. The designer describes a strong wish to create something unique and to give marble not only a shape but also a “feeling”.

Nami from KreooAs a company Kreoo has long been a leader in thought-provoking, unusual design – its name is a reference to the Ancient Greek verb “kraino” meaning “to create, to realise”.

Nami was one of my most favourite pieces as seen at Salone Bagno this year – I just love the texture and the visual motion given to the piece of marble. Trust me, there is plenty more to come from this innovative and fascinating company…stay tuned!
