The Molteni Group is based in Guissano just outside Milan in the industrial heart of Italy. Part of the group comprises some of the most famous names in the kitchen and furniture industry in Europe – Dada, Unifor, Citterio and Molteni. Last year’s iSalone fair provided another huge opportunity for the group to display many of their prized designs.
In Molteni & C, the company with the main responsibility for home furniture, Nicola Gallizia provides designs and inspiration through his Milan-based studio, CZ36. This piece of furniture, showcased in Milan, typifies his passion and ability for home furniture but his website demonstrates his depth and diversity in so many areas of design – cakes, lamps, show stands, chairs, bedrooms, brochures, shop fronts, restaurants, residential homes… the list is endless.
Nicola studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic, but like so many designers in Europe, he diversified from his original field. There are many designers here in Australia who have that ability and some are making great inroads in areas outside their “comfort zone” – if any of you out there has a great example, share it with us.
