I’m sure everyone remembers the “shoe bath” from last year’s iSalone event which created such an impression both for its beauty and sheer daring in its design ambitions.
SICIS, the company who supplied the mosaic tiles for that bath, has stunningly gorgeous mosaic tiles for all applications in the bathroom and its products are now available in Australia through Candana Designs. The effect of a mosaic tile feature wall cannot be underestimated but I think it was the bath and the application of the mosaics in that setting which really stretched our ideas of how to create centrepiece items for the bathroom.
I’ve always loved mosaic tiles – probably because I’m not a tiler and I don’t have to lay them. There is something truly magical about the effect they create and how impressive they are as a visual addition to any space. While Bisazza has long led the way in terms of the use of mosaics to create patterns, textures and features, it’s nice to see Australian designers being given the opportunity to widen their options when it comes to this type of tile.
