We were privileged to be invited to Smeg’s World Launch held yesterday at The Mint, Sydney. Around 35 media and journalists gathered at this stunning location to enjoy a sumptuous lunch and take a first-hand look at some of Smeg’s latest appliances.

Although the weather had us all a bit damp around the gills, inside it was warm and cozy. We were joined by representatives from Smeg Australia including Managing Director Andrew Cronin and National Marketing Manager Jim Kalotheos, as well as special guest Vittorio Bertazzoni CEO of Smeg Italy.

After a quick introduction we enjoyed a delicious entrée which was followed by a short video and presentation of the stunning new products in the Linear and Classic ranges.

The new Linea SFPA140 multifunction oven features signature sleek Stopsol silver glass and stainless steel styling with a beautiful full-colour TFT (thin film transistor) touch screen. The touch screen’s clear graphics and intuitive SLogic interface work with a ground-breaking cooking system which advises users on the best temperature, shelf height and cooking time for 50 recipes, to deliver an oven that ensures perfect results every time.

The iconic Classic SFPA395X is Smeg’s new flagship model and features, for the first time, a new generation TFT interface which delivers clear graphics on an intiutive  display. It also incorporates the SLogic technology which provides novice cooks with a fool-proof recipe including cooking temperatures, shelf heights and cooking times. And, with a capacity of 79 litres gross, users will love all the extra space to cook up a big feast for family and friends.

Both new oven ranges include a host of features too numerous to detail but plenty of information can be found by visiting www.smeg.com.au

After the presentation we indulged in a very tasty lunch followed by petit fours and coffee plus a chance to touch and feel the new products on display. And imagine our surprise when every guest attending the lunch was presented with their very own iPad mini which was pre-loaded with information and images from the launch. Thank you Smeg!! There were plenty of broad smiles at every table in the room today.

I was lucky enough to visit the Smeg showroom and factory last year as part of the KBDi’s International Tour to Eurocucina so I was already well-educated on the high standards Smeg sets for itself in terms of technology (rather than gimmicks) but I have to say the bar was set again today higher still. If you ever have the chance to visit Smeg’s head office in Guastalla, Italy I highly recommend you do – it’s such a worthwhile experience. Thanks Smeg for a great day.
