Arista – a space-saving cooking and entertaining hub

134I first saw this product last year when I was invited to the opening of the new Fab Kitchens showroom in Giraween, Sydney. Immediately I could see the potential of the idea, conceptualised and designed by Nohad D’Alessandro. We all know how popular outdoor entertaining has become and particularly here in Australia where our gorgeous climate allows us to live and relax outside for a good proportion of the year.

019‘Artista’ is a new concept which offers an innovative, space-saving solution which allows homeowners to maximise their undercover outdoor – or indoor – cooking and entertaining space. Designed and manufactured in Australia, ‘Artista’ utilises surfaces and materials specifically chosen to suit our local conditions.

Featuring an integrated cooking space with stainless steel barbecue, bar fridge, aluminium-framed glass doors, Hettich hardware, accessories and LED lighting, and an undermount sink with foldaway tap, Artista also boasts a premium stone benchtop with waterfall ends that extends at right angles to create either a bar and/or dining area when needed. The unit swings back to create a compact bench when not in use. This minimises its ‘footprint’ on the outdoor area.

023“We decided on the name ‘Artista’ as the Italian word for ‘entertainer’ because this is exactly what the unit does – it’s a little social hub that keeps people connected with one another,” says Fab Kitchens’ Nohad. “The unit is easily adapted for indoor or outdoor use – or even for small apartments.”

153Fab Kitchens can custom design and build the Artista to suit individual tastes, styles and sizes.  It can be easily adapted for indoor use to have a cooktop and oven, instead of a barbecue – and other appliances such as dishwashers can also be incorporated.
