This inventive space is part-bar and part-island kitchen which happily sits on the border of the kitchen and the living or entertaining space. With a classic colour scheme that embodies a sense of traditional elegance, this unit from the Diamond range appears a standard side table until its top slides back to reveal the ultimate in entertaining partnerships.
Inside is hidden an ice-maker, bottle holder, glasses holder, small sink and mini hob – what more could you need? As an addition to a standard kitchen it’s perfect as a “second” space when the crowds descend or, as a stand-alone unit in an adults-only zone it makes the challenge of entertaining so much easier.
I love the neutral colour scheme which allows Diamond “Cheers Hours” to work in a variety of settings and complement a range of kitchen and home designs. I have to admit, I could live without the overly-flowing finish which is a bit more ornate than I prefer but I concede it would suit a renovation of an older home where the decor was suited to the era of the house.
“Cheers Hours” is equipped with a variety of modern technology including sophisticated mechanical automation that transforms the unit into an elegant, functional bar in four simple movements. The glass top with its silky satin finish, raises, splits and slides sideways to reveal its clever internals.
Go on…I’m dying to know what you think. I know this more ornate style isn’t to everyone’s tastes but I love the idea of the hidden insides – almost like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat.
