Bespoke bathroom furniture from William Garvey

William Garvey -Bespoke Vanity Shelving, OakFinish - Low ResBritish furniture designer William Garvey is proving handcrafted, wooden vanity units and washstands still have a place in today’s modern bathrooms. The William Garvey brand employs highly skilled mastercraftsmen with high-quality artistic values to produce both standard and bespoke pieces that reflect today’s interior design requirements.

The brand’s designs cover a range of integrated and freestanding vanities and we have a few examples to share with you.

This integrated vanity unit (at top) features design symmetry with its parallel shelving and slim profile and is finished in oak; echoing the trend towards neutral colour palettes and natural materials. To give you an idea of the UK market, this bespoke integrated vanity unit with parallel shelving costs £4,630 +vat.

William Garvey - Bespoke Washstand, Teak Finish - Low ResIf freestanding furniture is more your style, then this twin-basin freestanding washstand with integrated shelving might be of interest. The vanity units can be created with either a countertop or undermounted basin and you are able to specify length, width, storage options and finish of wood. Finished in teak, the unit costs £1500 +vat.

William Garvey - Stained Wenge under lit bathroom cabinets with sandblasted, mirrored cabinets - Low ResThis last example is a bespoke stained Wenge with underlit bathroom cabinets and sandblasted mirrored cabinets and was designed by Architeam and handcrafted by William Garvey.  The wenge vanity unit has two integrated basins and slatted shelving while the mirrored cabinet has been designed with areas that have been sandblasted and etched to create subtle and diffused controlled lighting. It costs £3730 +vat.

Now, I know a timber vanity isn’t going to suit every bathroom out there but it is nice to see, in today’s heavily manufactured age, there’s still a place for handmade creativity and obviously still a market in the UK for this style of design and craftsmanship.
