Cassandra Cucine at Eurocucina

CASSANDRA Cibronze01One of the most talked about displays at Eurocucina came, surprisingly, not from the large, established kitchen designers and manufacturers, but from an emerging Greek company – Cassandra Cucine.

Tucked away in a corner of Hall 15 was a gem of a kitchen with its sleek curves and outside-the-square design which made it immediately eye-catching.

CASSANDRA Crystalli03As this was the company’s first display at Eurocucina, it chose to feature just one kitchen but that was more than enough to make an impression. George Pittarokillis, Founder and CEO of Cassandra Cucine, says the company’s aim is to go “beyond the established geometry of the kitchen furniture systems. The goal is to spread worldwide a different way of living unlike anything else seen before. A daring design that matches the every day utility with the exclusivity of a masterpiece of furniture”.

Cas1DBThe shape of the kitchen embodies an elliptical shape which epitomises the essence of Cassandra Cucine. Hanging cabinets are based on the opposed vertical columns exactly as happens with the construction of a bridge. The novelty of the design lies in the fact that the entire kitchen, including the hanging cabinets, are freestanding and can be place without requiring any wall support.

CASSANDRA Cibronze03For me, it’s not about whether you like or dislike this kitchen, nor whether you find it practical or impractical. In a market where almost every major manufacturer is still playing it safe – and who can blame them with the current state of the economy? – here’s a company which has gone out on a limb to present something different and thought provoking. And, within the group of Australians who were at Eurocucina, it certainly garnered lots of discussion and interest.
