For something new in bathroom heating and heated towel rails, here is Scaletta from Tubes – part of the company’s Elements Collection.
Designed by Elisa Giovannoni, Scaletta was displayed at this year’s International Bathroom Exhibition and immediately caught our attention because of its great design style – an interesting take on the traditional form of a ladder.
The designer says, “The image of a ladder resting against a wall makes one think of something new, of human industry, of the future, of going from the bottom up, it encloses within itself the opposing concepts of dynamism and static. It is a positive icon. This heating “ladder” is an item which I have long desired for my home, so I think it answers one of the first questions one asks oneself when observing a new item of design.”
The ladder becomes an architectural structure with its own strong personality and ability to add to the design style of the bathroom. It’s a far cry from the traditional radiator shape we are used to and the company sees applications for this product beyond the traditional installation in the bathroom suggesting that Scaletta might be installed in a kitchen, living room or bedroom.
Scaletta is constructed from aluminium and is available in the full range of Tubes colours. It is available as a wall-mounted or free-standing version. The free-standing version is fully moveable so it can be taken from room to room if required as well as taken with you if you move. As a wall-mounted unit, Scaletta is available in two sizes (180 cm high x 51 cm wide x 30 cm deep – 135 cm high x 47 cm wide x 30 cm deep), and the free-standing version is available in a single size (100 cm high x 510 cm wide x 29 cm deep). Both versions are accessorised with a hook and a sponge tidy. The floor-standing version can also be fitted with a practical storage shelf.
