Does “tall” (really tall) work in the bathroom?

After supposedly seeing everything in Milan that can be put anywhere between “minimalistic and traditional” and possibly beyond, this release from Daniel Rubinetterie came as a bit of a shock – as I thought we’d seen the majority of the products. However when this came through, personally I’m glad I hadn’t !33

This new release from DR, is two fold. Firstly they have released a series of bowls that on first glance challenge the theory of aesthetics v practicality. Does anyone really need a basin in the bathroom that’s 350mm deep? Does it really work in an ever present environment of slimline, sleek fittings? And secondly a basin 350mm high needs to be fed water from a greater height, so DR have released the QR609XX tap – and it’s 500mm high – does this work?

Well I think it does!22

Daniel Rubinetterie has been manufacturing quality tapware since 1985 – and a large proportion of its business deals with the supply of custom made products. Not for one minute are we suggesting this new range of products has been designed and produced exclusively for a certain tribe in middle Africa – far from it. DR tell us that this range has been “globally accepted” which suggests that it can work and, in the correct environment, does suit certain installations.11

So today’s question is – could you use a product like this, could you sell the principle of a 350mm high basin and a 500mm high tap?
