Judges’ comments: An exceptional kitchen with its striking fish tank wall creating an immediate ‘wow’ factor and central focal point. The judges noted the excellent flow through from the kitchen to the alfresco entertaining area that seamlessly brings the two areas together. A sleek, modern kitchen that complements the luxurious and contemporary design of the home.

Judges’ comments: This spacious and natural-light-filled bathroom with a stunning feature marble wall behind the bath creates a sophisticated look and feel. A concealed steam room is beautifully clad in glass mosaic tiles which add to the sense of luxury. The bathroom uses a perfect mix of materials with timber and porcelain making it a warm and inviting space.

Winner: Craig Sheiles Homes and International Cabinets (cshomes.com.au or internationalcabinets.com.au)
Judges’ comments: It is the clever and practical design ideas that take this kitchen to another level. The space is divided into a crisp, clean entertaining and social area; and a functional prep zone with a stainless steel bench. The timber veneer adds warmth to the contrast of the sharp, straight lines of the linear layout.

2014 Australian Bathroom Design of the Year
Winner: Minosa (minosadesign.com)
Judges’ comments: This distinctive, open-plan bathroom has it all with a sandstone cliff face as a remarkable feature. The glass sliding doors on one wall of the shower open it up to the elements and allows natural airflow. The luxurious, day-spa-style design also includes a double vanity, large freestanding bath and a generous walk-in robe.
