If you’ve ever wanted to visit the Amazon without leaving home, this new design from UPGroup might just do it for you.
Designed by José Levy, Jungle Wash is a new collection from Italian marble specialist company UPGroup and it incorporates shelving, a sink, a tap, a mirror, a foldaway stool, and a wild and offbeat shower (no pic available, sorry). The company tells me the collection even includes a toothbrush, comb and vase!
The idea was to create a collection that would embody the “oasis of freshness within the Amazon jungle”.
Rough blocks of emerald green Guatemalan marble are the basis of this suite of products where only the functional parts are highly polished, allowing the roughness of the natural finish to add to the essence of the design. The designer sought to recreate “a mineral stack smoothed by water from a waterfall and overrun by dense vegetation” where the user’s experience would be “a bit like washing in nature after a tropical rainfall, when the water is held in stone blocks.
I have to say, I do particularly love the richness of the green hues and, particularly as applied here with the white background, the striking contrast of the stark wall against the organic essence of the rough and smooth marble is just lovely.
