“Bevelled tile revival” – will it happen?

At Cersaie there was a rather unusual push from exhibitors on bevelled tiles. And most who were there believed that there is a revival on hand. Certainly a timeless look, bevelled tiles are definitely a current trend in ceramic tile design. It undoubtedly adds dimension, depth and interest to a subway tile pattern.

The textures and geometric shapes of bevelled tile give designers flexibility to take classic looks and recreate them in new, interesting ways.   Available in a wide variety of colours and sizes, bevelled looks were seen en masse at Cersaie and other lesser tile shows held over the last six months.

Here’s a selection from Cersaie:

So it begs the obvious question – is this a revival, or has it always been here? Or have European tile manufacturers conjured up another masterpiece in marketing? (personally, I think it’s always been here – I’ve seen quite a few in award entries for one)
