Cielo’s Slot, Ball and Mini Ball urinals have been awarded a Good Design Award for 2014.
Known as an innovative and trend-setting Italian ceramic manufacturer, Cielo works with a number of designers to create exciting and interesting new collections. In this case, the three urinals were designed by 5.5 Designers. The Good Design Award is one of the most important and renowned awards in the design industry with an international jury, comprised of key figures from the design world, and entries from 48 nations that represent the best of contemporary manufacture and design.
The urinals have already been honoured with a “Red Dot Award: Product Design” 2014 and selected for inclusion in the ADI Design Index 2014.
Slot, Ball and Mini Ball are versatile design products based on pure geometric forms which match the French creativity of 5.5 Designers with the high quality of Italian handmade style. In this, their second collaboration with Cielo, 5.5 Designers took a fresh approach to an everyday object to create the three versions featured here.
Slot is a floor-mounted unit in a monolithic block which represents a sculptural totem into which has been carved a deep curved slot. Ball is a suspended version with a generous, soft, pure shape based on the geometry of a circle. Mini Ball, as the name suggests, has the same form as Ball but with smaller dimensions.
The units are available in glossy white, glossy black, stone, charcoal and the “Terre di Cielo” range of natural/neutral colours.
