Molteni & C unveils new Tokyo showroom – designed by Patricia Urquiola

moltenic_tokyo_flagship_store_02_lrItalian designer and manufacturer Molteni & C has opened its first flagship store designed by internationally-renowned designer Patricia Urquiola. Located in the Minami Aoyama district, the store is adjacent to the Nezu Museum, one of Kengo Kuma’s masterpieces.

moltenic_tokyo_flagship_store_03_lrThe store is around 300 square metres and is divided into two levels, with collections by Patricia Urquiola, Ron Gilad, Rodolfo Dordoni, Dante Bonuccelli and Matteo Nuziati on display.

moltenic_tokyo_flagship_store_01_lrIn the living room, Molteni & C is featuring the Pass-word system, Reversi ’14, Breeze and D.2702 seating, and the set of Chelsea armchairs. In the bedroom, visitors can view displays of the Sweet-dreams bed, the Gliss-Up wardrobe and the new Wing door.

moltenic_tokyo_flagship_store_04_lrAlways interested in local culture and history when designing in other countries, Patricia Urquiola has designed a space that combines contemporary effects with traditional Japanese high-end style. The design sees a graphic wall which stands 7-metres high, made of local cedar, which acts as a filter between the interior of the showroom and the rising sun.
