Corian Series 3 Winners

The Corian Series 3 winners have been announced and they are:

Wynnstay House
Designed by Rob McBride and Debbie Ryan of McBride Charles Ryan, Corian® Glacier White was chosen for this project because it was malleable, robust and allowed the designers the freedom to shape. Fabricated and built by Individual Design and Construction, this project follows the water theme of the interior: the island bench alludes to an iceberg.

The kitchen joinery unit is essentially a carcass enveloped with formed Corian. The designers wanted to create a unit that was seamless and one singular form and Corian was the only material that they could think of that would achieve this. Clinton Buckwell from Individual Design and Construction took on the fabrication challenge and drew the unit in laser-cut, layered sections which were then stacked, glued and sanded. The difficulty was getting the kitchen into the house in one piece. It took seven ‘big blokes’ to move the unit into place!22

mPods
Melanie Shiue of mPort created a 3D scanning pod, also made in Corian Glacier White. Called mPods, the unit is a world-first, patent-pending innovation whereby body measurements are mapped in 3D for mobile fashion and health applications.

33

mPods are located within major shopping centres across Australia where consumers can have access any time. The concept is to create an approachable, comfortable, secure and user-friendly environment that represents first-class quality through design and material selection.

44Fabricated by Palette Solid Surface and Fabrications, and made by Euroline, the seamless finish makes the pods look like a one piece sculpture instead of a manufactured product.
