The Block kitchens

The Block kitchens were revealed last week with all five couples opting for neutral, clean designs with subtle touches to make each space stand out from the next. Whether hidden artwork, faint brickwork or hints of copper, these features made a bit impact on the judges.

Cosentino worked with each couple to create a modern, functional kitchen with a seamless flow within the apartment that suits the up-market South Yarra location. The teams chose from the diverse range of colours and textures in Cosentino’s Silestone range to ensure each space captured the latest kitchen trends while reflecting the team’s personal style.

Unit 1
Unit 1 – Kingi & Caro

The winners were Kingi and Caro in Unit 1 who won over the judges with their cool space and its unique urban style. A bold graffiti splashback design on the inner surface of the island brings hints of blue back into the kitchen while the remaining alcove was transformed into a butler’s nook, positioned out of sight of guests. The couple chose Silestone Blanco Zeus with a Suede finish to add depth and texture to the stylish kitchen.

Unit 2
Unit 2 – Whitney & Andy

Whitney and Andy in Unit 2 designed a stunning Scandinavian-inspired kitchen with an industrial twist. The Silestone White Storm is beautifully complemented with Ballina Natural Oak timber grain. The White Storm benchtop has a Suede finish and a unique angled top to provide a contrast to the Silestone Lyra island bench top.

Unit 3
Unit 3 – Voni & Suzi

Voni and Suzi in Unit 3 have created a sleek and moody kitchen with matte black dominating the monochrome colour palette. Silestone benchtops in various colours, textures and thicknesses are used to lighten the mood and add a sense of luxury. The Carbono benchtp with its sparkle effect and integrated sink is a perfect fit for a show-stopping kitchen. The team used Helix with a Suede finish as a luxury touch for the island.

Unit 4
Unit 4 – Ebony & Luke

Ebony and Luke’s kitchen in Unit 4 is a contemporary classic which beautifully blends the old with the new. A Silestone benchtop in Ariel is cleverly angled to complement the shape of the room and complete the calm, tranquil space. Removing a wall allowed the team to create an open kitchen which achieves a great sense of flow through to the dining and living areas.

Unit 5
Unit 5 – Shay & Dean

Shay and Dean in Unit 5 bravely switched the kitchen and living rooms around to create a contemporary kitchen with the entertainer in mind. The modern colour palette is an on-trend blend of black, white and timber grain and features contrasting Silestone benchtops in Blano Orion on the island and Cemento Spa with a Suede finish elsewhere.
