Dornbracht’s portfolio of high-quality finishes has a new addition: dark platinum matte with a distinctive, lightly brushed, silk matte finish. Initially, the new dark platinum matte finish will be exclusive to Dornbracht’s Vaia series of fittings.
The dark, warm colour extends the range of individual design possibilities with its elegant feel that sets a sensual tone in the bathroom. The velvety finish of the new dark platinum matte is achieved by a special matting process that Dornbracht has developed specifically for the delicate, soft shape of the Vaia design.
The fitting is made from the finest brass and every single part of it is hand-crafted in a fixed direction before the surface finish is applied. This ensures that the individual particles of the finish reach into the finest recesses of the brush strokes. This processing sequence, which is specific to Dornbracht and requires supreme technological know-how, is preserving the structure and lends it an exceptional look.
Dornbracht regards finishes, along with the design shape, as an additive dimension of product design. Coordinated to the new Vaia series of fittings, which reconciles classical and progressive style elements, dark platinum matte has a harmonising and grounding effect. The warm colour accentuates the soft, balanced design language of the fitting and works as a linking element between the different style worlds.
Based on the designs of the New York architect Rafael de Cárdenas, Creative Director Mike Meiré has developed a bathroom architecture in which Vaia acts as the linking element between the different style worlds. In keeping with the “transitional style” interior design trend, the setting for Vaia in dark platinum matte is an environment full of contrasts.
Surrounded by a seemingly organic, cathedral-like architecture, Vaia appears on a monolithic, solitary washstand made from cubes of different materials such as marble and
smoked glass. Its angular form stands in contrast to the design language of the fitting, as well as the curving layout of the architecture. Tiles, one of the oldest structural elements of all, provide a dramatic background for the silk dark platinum matte finish.
