With the show exactly two months from opening, the previews are starting to hit our inbox. Here’s the first to share, from Molteni & C, with two exciting new products – Teorema, a storage unit, and Ratio, a modular kitchen.
Teorema (design Ron Gilad)
Teorema is a collection based around the idea of a geometric void with the chest of drawers featuring rotating elements to create a storage unit. Storage sections and open glass elements are superimposed to form a single solid, with a densely faceted surface.
Teorema was first presented at last year’s Salone del Mobile.Milano and was the winner of the Wallpaper design Award 2018 in the Best Twist Action category. The drawers can be placed in axis or at 45° compared to the rest of the unit. The finish, either of canaletto walnut or eucalyptus, is a perfect blend between the micrometrical precision of the mechanical machining and the craftsmanship involved in folding and gluing the structural elements.
Ratio (design Vincent Van Duysen)
Following the success of Eurocucina 2016, Vincent Van Duysen is once again focusing his attention on the spaces set aside for preparing and enjoying food. Ratio is a modular kitchen where the structure is the undisputed protagonist. Metallic grids form the architecture of base and wall units, columns, hoods and accessories.
Solid volumes, empty volumes and surfaces of different thicknesses are hooked to the structural technical elements, slender and minimal, creating an elegant interplay of balances. In addition to the traditional linear compositions, Vincent Van Duysen proposes corner solutions, central islands and accessory units designed to satisfy the most discerning and sophisticated user. Completing the project are snack counters, as well as perfectly integrated, innovative washing and cooking solutions.
The Mediterranean warmth and character of the overall design is reflected in the fine woods and natural stones chosen.
