KBDi Designer Awards 2018 – National Winners

The KBDi Designer Awards 2018 were held last weekend at the stunning Sheraton Grand Mirage on the Gold Coast with the Gala Welcome Drinks sponsored by Smeg and all trophies supplied by Austaron. A huge congratulations to all the entrants, finalists and winners. Here are the winners of the major, national awards. State winners will be coming every day this week so stay tuned.

Australian Certified Designer of the Year 2018

Winner – Darren Genner CKD Au (Minosa)

KBDi Designer Awards 2018Two outstanding kitchen submissions, both with stunning design resolutions, exceptional plans and specifications and great confidence in application earned this designer the coveted title of KBDi Australian Certified Designer of the Year. The judges were awed by the standard of work submitted, and applauded the designer for his exceptional design talent and proficiency in the documentation.

KBDi Designer Awards 2018In a very hotly contested competition for the title of KBDi Australian Certified Designer of the Year, the judging panel deemed this designer’s work well and truly worthy of a high commendation. The judges applauded the extraordinary standard of work delivered in two kitchen entries: with very considered space planning, creative design resolutions and exceptional documentation, the designer is commended for her professionalism and talent.

KBDi Designer Awards 2018The judges declared this entry a hands-down winner, commending the designer on a perfectly executed entry. The panel described the aesthetics of the space as sophisticated and sensitive, and an excellent example of restrained elegance: from the striking black wenge vanity to the luxurious honed Calacatta feature tiles, to the black and white counter basins and matt black tapware, the bathroom is a visual delight. The overall design was well-thought out and technically on point, and the documentation was of the highest standard.

KBDi Designer Awards 2018Flawless documentation, a daring resolution and the exceptional detailing of a challenging space earned this designer the esteemed title of KBDi Australian Kitchen Designer of the Year. The judges loved the designer’s unique response to a complex space, and were wowed by the geometric mastery of the island benchtop. They admired the well thought out and practical planning, and balanced application of colour and texture in an overall stand-out kitchen design.

KBDi Designer Awards 2018An underground space filled with dirt, pipes, cables and a watertank was ingeniously converted to a luxurious steam room in this Bronte Beach home. The designer effectively overcame the numerous challenges that arose, and successfully met the clients’ complex brief. The finest of finishes, layered lighting and alluring organic forms add opulence and elegance to this stunning steam retreat.
