Kitchen Designer of the Year WA
Winner – Alysia Pekel (Western Cabinets)
Sponsored by Lincoln Sentry
The remarkable transformation of what was once a dated and disorganised space greatly impressed the judging panel. They admired the designer’s clever reinvention of the kitchen and dining areas, and careful consideration of various zones within the large kitchen. They applauded the designer’s well-balanced selection of materials, colours and textures, resulting in a glamorous yet livable space.
Designer Small Kitchens WA
Winner – Maggie Milligan
Sponsored by Lincoln Sentry
The clients had a long list of expectations for this modestly-sized Freemantle apartment, which they intended to let out for short stay accommodation. A centrally located staircase further complicated the brief and presented many challenges to the designer. With careful and creative planning, the kitchen and adjoining rooms were expertly reinvented, resulting in a practical and attractive design solution.
Designer Medium Kitchens WA
Winner – Alysia Pekel (Western Cabinets)
Sponsored by Lincoln Sentry
The designer executed an incredible transformation of what was once a dated and disorganised space. The existing kitchen and dining areas were opened up and reinvented with clever space planning and super smart finishes. The achromatic scheme is beautifully balanced, with glossy black herringbone tiles adding a sense of daring and drama to the otherwise serene space.
Designer Large Kitchens WA
Winner – Maggie Milligan
Sponsored by Lincoln Sentry
This large kitchen was carefully re-zoned to create a practical, functional space. An enormous freestanding cooker was given pride of place in the midpoint of the rear wall, with a Hampton style chimney framing the cooking zone. The existing sink centre was moved from the middle of the room to a new home beneath a window, with ample room either side for serving to the alfresco area.
Bathroom Designer of the Year WA
Winner – Caitlin Slater (Smart Style Bathrooms)
Sponsored by E&S Trading
The judges commended the designer on overcoming a number of construction complications to develop a design that met the clients’ complex brief. The designer provided plenty of storage space and room to move in a bathroom to be used by four children. The durable fixtures and finishes specified were both practical and attractive, ensuring the bathroom will withstand the battering of busy boys and girls, both now and in the future.
Designer Small Bathrooms WA
Winner – Kerrie Richardson (Lux Bathrooms)
Sponsored by E&S Trading
The designer thought ‘outside of the square’ when reconfiguring this small bathroom. An angled wall was used in lieu of the standard rectangular nib, providing the client with her desired in-shower shelving, while at the same time shielding the toilet from view. Generous storage areas met the client brief, and a lovely layering of finishes made for a warm and inviting space.
Designer Large Bathrooms WA
Winner – Caitlin Slater (Smart Style Bathrooms)
Sponsored by E&S Trading
A bathroom to be used by four children in a home designed in the 1940s required big ideas, thoughtful planning and smart specifications.
