Kitchen Designer of the Year SA

Winner – Haris Bahtiyarov CKD Au (Alby Turner & Son)

Sponsored by Lincoln Sentry

KBDi Designer Awards 2018Dubbed ‘the Darth Vader’ by the judging panel, this dark, moody and daringly different kitchen certainly caught their attention. The judges commended the designer’s unwavering commitment to black, and confident application of an achromatic scheme sitting firmly on ‘the dark side’. They acknowledged the designer’s well thought out space planning, too; the overall layout produced a practical and user-friendly workspace that met the clients’ brief.

Designer Medium Kitchens SA

Winner – Nathan Wundersitz CKD Au

Sponsored by Lincoln Sentry

KBDi Designer Awards 2018Besser block walls and a very basic budget challenged the designer to create a warm and inviting kitchen in a cost-effective way. Painted plywood panels with notched-out handles and hoop pine plywood features add warmth and a sense of homeliness to this industrial-style dwelling. Rubix white mosaics inject a fun 3D effect, and thoughtful space planning will see the young family enjoy their kitchen for years to come.

Designer Large Kitchens SA

Winner – Haris Bahtiyarov CKD Au (Alby Turner & Son)

Sponsored by Lincoln Sentry

KBDi Designer Awards 2018Dark, moody and daringly different: with its matt black doors, black carcasses, polished concrete floors and iron-grey island benchtop, the designer has created a truly achromatic scheme that’s definitely on the dark side! In a regal twist, brushed rose gold-plated handles are the jewels to the crown of this kingly kitchen.

Bathroom Designer of the Year SA

Winner – Angela Gianakis CKD Au

KBDi Designer Awards 2018The clever space planning and careful zoning of this large bathroom impressed the judging panel: with a toilet and bidet tucked out of site, a shower recess partitioned off for privacy and a generous vanity providing ample storage space, the designer successfully met the client brief while maintaining balance and proportion in an oversized space. The room was finished with a warm, homely palette and timeless material selections, ensuring the ensuite will be much loved for many years.

Designer Small Bathrooms SA

Winner – Angela Gianakis CKD Au

KBDi Designer Awards 2018The nature-loving client wanted to bring the outdoors in to her new ensuite, and relax in an ‘organically’ styled environment.  With an intelligent window installation, the designer opened the room up to an adjoining garden space, with a view which will continue to evolve as the outdoor plants mature.  The natural feel is completed with limestone and timber look tiles and a lovely benchtop material dotted with pebbles and shells.

Designer Large Bathrooms SA

KBDi Designer Awards 2018A spacious bathroom area has been expertly divided into three separate zones, creating a balanced, flowing and uncluttered retreat for the homeowners. The toilet and bidet are tucked away out of site, and the shower recess is partitioned off for ultimate privacy. A large, well laid out vanity provides optimum storage, while a luxurious freestanding bath takes centre stage.
