Visit Duravit with AIDT in 2019

AIDT invites you to visit the amazing facilities of Duravit in Hornberg, Germany as part of its 2019 Tour to ISH in March next year. From a small start in 1817 as an earthenware factory that manufactured crockery, the company expanded its production to porcelain and extended its product range to include sanitary ceramics and the name Duravit was established. Its commitment to being a design leader has always set the brand apart.

Duravit has collaborated with internationally recognised designers since 1994, when the first “designer” bathroom by Philippe Stark was released. This is a partnership which has continued through to today with the latest release being the “Me by Starck” range. Other famous collaborations include Cecilie Manz, Matteo Thun and Norman Foster.

Today the company has an international reputation for excellence and boasts 12 production plants and a workforce of more than 5975 employees worldwide. It offers a “hand-made” quality assurance that sets it apart from its competitors. Duravit continues to maintain a high standard of craftsmanship across all its ceramic manufacturing as well as all production areas to allow it to uphold its claim to quality design and function.

Duravit is the proud recipient of numerous international design awards that celebrate bold design – a Duravit hallmark. Each designer with whom Duravit partners is a specialist in his or her field and is known as a prominent global innovator with an inherent sense of good design. Duravit has the philosophy that good design is never at the expense of practicality and is not interested in “design for design’s sake”.

Duravit maintains an ongoing dialogue with its trade partners and sanitaryware dealers to ensure the needs and requirements of the end user are addressed by the brand’s designs.

Sustainability is not a new topic for Duravit but is a practice the company has championed for years in its selection of materials, technological applications and production methods. The manufacture of Duravit’s sanitaryware ceramics today employs the same basic materials – clay, kaolin, feldspar and quartz – all natural, regenerative substances. The fusion of Duravit’s environmentally-friendly production technologies with the company’s meticulous quality control results in products that are highly functional and long lasting.

Duravit is also an internationally-recognised specialist in bathroom furniture design and manufacture incorporating technology such as sound, illumination and “defogging” functions. Duravit’s design collections also showcase an amazing array of bathware and, more recently, a beautifully crafted range tapware and showers.
