Danish design company Furnipart is just about to launch its first ever collection of Cast Iron handles. Furnipart will present a total of two handles and one knob designed by Danish designers Hans Sandgren Jakobsen and Jakob Kamper.
In its more than 40 years in business, Furnipart has made handles in materials such as plastic, wood, metal, ceramic and leather, but never before has a range of Cast Iron handles been included to the company’s vast collection of designs.
Danish company furnipart works with both new and well-established designers worldwide and exploring the use of different materials has become core to the company’s DNA.
CEO Rasmus Byriel says, “There is more diversity in kitchen designs now than ever before, and honouring that diversity by introducing a new material seems a natural step for us to take. We want to push the boundaries of how you think kitchen design, and we firmly believe that by adding a new material such as cast iron to an otherwise clean and simple surface, you create a certain dynamic, which will result in a new perception of your kitchen. It is as simple as that”.
Cast Iron is generally seen as rustic, romantic and often associated with a certain country style, but it is much more than that. Furnipart’s designs are all sleek and modern in their expression, which gives the handles a more clean and stringent look. As with all Furnipart designs, these handles can be either loud or discrete depending on how they are used.
By choosing cast iron for its new designs, the company plays with the tradition of using this particular material for crockery, but as always, Furnipart takes the use of the material one step further by making the designs sleek and modern in their expression thus bringing history into the modern home.
