Introducing two new products – Tao and Kalypso from Kreoo – released by the company earlier this year at Salone Bagno as part of Salone del Mobile.Milano.
The Tao freestanding or countertop washbasin, designed by Marco Piva, features a stunningly sculptural, elegant and clean shape. It is described by its designer as celebrating differences in harmony and expressing the strength running through matter. With its strong, graphic design, Tao reflects marble’s intrinsic dynamism.
Metal inserts emphasise the washbasin’s sculptural shape along its entire length and diameter, framing the exquisite and unique geometries of the natural material. The metal insert is not only a beatiful design feature, but adds to the functionality of production. The sectioning of the washbasin allows Tao to be carved from multiple small blocks of marble, reducing the material waste.
Tao’s essential design draws upon the “Yin and Yang” Taoist philosophy, involving the juxtaposition of bright and dark, full and empty spaces, lightness and heaviness, light and shadow, opposites that meet, in harmony.
The Kalypso bathtub was designed by Enzo Berti and is a powerful, visually striking element for the bathroom. Named for the water nymph of Greek mythology, Kalypso recalls the ancient classical forms which have inspired the bathtubs of the neoclassical and Napoleonic era.
Kalypso is a sculptural object with a soft shape that is enriched by the unique variations of the marble veins. Soft, undulating lines underscore the inherent strength of marble while exquisite design and workmanship enhance the ergonomic shape that creates a welcoming “embrace” for the user.
Kalypso has been cut from a single block of solid marble, and carved with a meticulous and fine technique. Initially rough-shaped with specialised technology, like all Kreoo pieces, the tub is hand-finished by experienced Italian sculptors. Waste is reused in the production chain, to maximise the utility of each block.
