After saying goodbye to ISH and leaving Frankfurt, we arrived in the Black Forest ready to spend some time with tour sponsor Hansgrohe.
We started in the late afternoon with a trip to the Gasthaus Käppelehof via a local glass factory then we partook of a traditional German Vesper which is a sumptuous selection of meats, cheeses, sausage, pickles and the like.
It was the perfect dinner choice for what started out as a stupendous sunshine-filled day before the weather turned chilly.
The following morning we were up bright and early to travel into Schiltach to the Hansgrohe Aquademie. The Aquademie is an amazing building that houses offices, showrooms, a museum and the renowned Shower World. After an introduction by our host Stuart Maunder from Hansgrohe Australia, we took a tour through the Hansgrohe Museum – an amazing space that plots the history of the private bathroom as well as the history of the Hansgrohe company.
Next was a walk through the Hansgrohe and Axor brands before we took turns experiencing Shower World. Shower World is a water wonderland where visitors to Hansgrohe can experience all the different types of showers and mechanisms that make up the range. It truly is a lot of fun to play in there!
Following a lunch break, we travelled to the first of Hansgrohe’s factories in Offenburg to see first-hand the technology behind the creation of the shower range. It was an eye-opening experience to walk through the factory and see just how much time and effort goes into the production of these products and the level of care and attention paid to the working components to ensure they are the best possible. We also climbed the Hansgrohe solar tower. Since the early 1990s, Hansgrohe has been generating its own solar power, making the company a pioneer in the use of solar energy.
That night we enjoyed dinner in the hotel restaurant and are ready for another big day tomorrow!
