KBDi Designer Awards 2019 – now open

The Kitchen & Bathroom Designers Institute of Australia is proud to present the KBDi Designer Awards 2019. These Awards recognise the outstanding talent of designers across Australia and offer the opportunity for industry and peer recognition, fantastic prizes and invaluable marketing opportunities.

Key dates to note:

  • Gala Registrations Open Monday, 8 April 2019
  • Awards Close Monday, 6 May 2019 (12 noon, your local time)
  • Finalists Announced Week beginning Monday, 17 June 2019
  • Gala Registrations Close Monday, 1 July 2019
  • KBDi Designer Awards Gala (Melbourne) Saturday, 3 August 2019

Entry is open to all current financial KBDi Accredited Designer, Designer and Associate Designer Members. All designs submitted must be for projects undertaken within the Commonwealth of Australia and completed during the period of 6 November 2017 to 6 May 2019.

Winner Australian Kitchen Designer of the Year 2018 – Darren Genner, Minosa

Entrants may enter as an Individual Member, Business Member or, new for 2019, as a Collaborative Design Partnership. Entries are to be made using the PowerPoint template available from the KBDi website and the judging criteria is available in the Entry Pack available from KBDi.

All Finalist entries will be showcased on the KBDi website up until the winners have been
announced at the Awards Gala and will be showcased on the Complete Homes website, and will be eligible for public voting in the People’s Choice Award.

Highly Commended Australian Certified Designer of the Year – Tania Kloester, TK Design

2019 Categories include:

  • Small Kitchens (up to 15m² including general pantry space)
  • Large Kitchens (over 15m² – not including kitchens with a scullery or butler’s pantry)
  • Kitchens Plus (open size – includes a kitchen with a scullery, butler’s pantry, study nook etc…)
  • Small Bathrooms/Powder Rooms (up to and including 8m²)
  • Large Bathrooms (over 8m²)
  • Master Suites (open size – includes a bathroom, dressing room, walk-in robe, bedroom etc…)
  • Certified Designer of the Year (only open to Certified Designer members)
  • Australian Design Space (any domestic [i.e. not commercial] designed space, excluding a kitchen, bathroom, powder room or master suite, contained within a residential dwelling)
  • Traditional Design & Styling (residential kitchen or bathroom project, designed and styled in a ‘traditional’ character)
  • First Time Entrant (all first-time entrants will automatically go into the First Time Entrants Award)
  • People’s Choice (all finalists will go into the KBDi and Kitchens & Bathrooms Quarterly’s
    People’s Choice Awards)
