Blum’s EXPANDO T has been named the winner of the German Innovation Award 2019 in Gold in the Excellence in Business to Consumer – Kitchen category.
Blum is the only hardware supplier to offer a thin front solution across all three applications – lift systems, doors and drawers. Blum’s EXPANDO T is the latest dowel technology which has steel pull-in anchors and ensures a firm hold in hard materials, while nylon jaws ensure the same firm hold in softer materials.
Impressing the jury, the judges said in their summary: “Thanks to the EXPANDO T fixing mechanism, it is now possible for the first time to attach fittings to the thin fronts of lift systems, doors and pull-outs made from a variety of materials, such as MDF, HDF, HPL and veneered chipboard.
“Compatible with fronts from just 8 mm to 14mm in thickness, the mechanism is well-designed with a clear concept and is installed with just the two screws provided. The EXPANDO T is a major innovation that opens up new furniture design options and helps to save considerable amounts of material.”
The German Innovation Awards are now in their second year. Blum was among 695 entries this year competing for recognition.
