antoniolupi Plisse freestanding sink

The antoniolupi Plisse freestanding sink is a new project designed by Paolo Ulian for antoniolupi, inspired by Carrara marble but constructed from Flumood, a new concept material developed and patented by antoniolupi. The solidity of Plisse is softened by parallel signs running lengthwise down the surface to create an elegant, timeless object which draws attention towards the base of the unit.

antoniolupi PlisseThe idea of the antoniolupi Plisse washbasin was born from observing the aesthetic and decorative texture created by working high thicknesses of marble with a waterjet cutting technology; aesthetics based on the spontaneous beauty of imperfection, irregularity of rhythm and of randomness.

antoniolupi PlisseExuding the aesthetics of a pleated fabric causes Plisse to seem to move lightly, thanks to the variation of light and the plays of shadows. With an ornamental finish, the washbasin appears almost weightless, the irregular pleats challenging the senses and playing with the visual representation of the object.

antoniolupi PlisseThe company’s use of Flumood allows for a strong, three-dimensional graphic impact with the thin pleats creating an imperfect syncopated rhythm. antoniolupi is known for its research, innovation and originality and in recent years has pushed its production to create unique artefacts and unusual projects that challenge the status quo.
