The Victoria + Albert International Design Awards 2020 are now open for entries from architects, designers and students. The winner will receive international publicity and an all-expenses-paid trip to Salone del Mobile, Milan to see their design recreated at this auspicious show.
The brief, under the heading “The Serenity Edition” asks entrants to create a bathroom space that realises restful and captures the theme of serenity. Entries much feature at least one Victoria + Albert product. The company encourages entrants to “think calming colours, tranquil textures and natural light”.
The competition will be judged by an expert panel of architects and designers who will select both a winner and regional runners’ up.
It’s easy to enter – simply design a spa-inspired bathroom concept measuring 3m x 3m which features at least one Victoria + Albert product. Keep in mind the brief is to highlight a spa-inspired design. The concept room design, with at least two project views including a rendering or sketch and a floor plan. Victoria + Albert provide a 2D and 3D downloadable toolkit on the competition entry page to assist.
In addition, you will need to supply a 150-word explanation of your concept. Entries will be judged as follows:
- 30% Functionality: How suitable is the design based on usability?
- 30% Aesthetic Merit: How does the design look?
- 20% Creativity: How innovative is the design?
- 20% Personality: How distinctive is the design?
The winner receives an all-expenses-paid trip to see their bathroom design brought to life at the world-renowned Salone del Mobile, Milan complete with international exposure. Regional runners’ up will have their designs digitally displayed at the show and will receive a two-night stay in a hotel featuring a Victoria + Albert bath.
