The Bahlara furnishing system by Faram, designed by Egidio Panzera, has won the prestigious Good Design Award 2019 in the Furniture category.
The company’s operational furnishing system, Bahlara was honoured for its strong innovative features and the original cross-culture horizon from which it comes. Bahlara can be configured, expanded, reduced and adapted continuously to meet the needs of the contemporary workspace, creating a balance between aesthetics and functionality, using new paradigms of discontinuity, flexibility and harmonic interpretation of apparent chaos as the driving criteria.
Made up of desks, benches and chairs that draw inspiration from the extreme functionality and spontaneous aesthetics of market stalls like the Ballarò market in Palermo, from which it takes its name, Bahlara advances the re-appropriation of the workspace as a place dedicated to people.
The system allows extreme customisation in every element as well as the creation of a versatile yet structured work space, that can be perfectly adapted to the needs of the individual and, above all, to the community that populates today’s workspaces.
The Good Design Awards , established in 1950 by the Chicago Atheneum , is one of the most prestigious industrial design awards of international renown which recognises each year’s most innovative products that meet clear criteria of functionality and sustainability . Products are subsequently displayed permanently at the Chicago Atheneum Museum of Architecture and Design.
