Introducing the new Meridiano and Tropico lamps from Fontana Arte, the Milan-based lighting and furniture resource for architects and designers.
The “shape of light” is the core of the project by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, that started with the Equatore family of lamps presented in 2017 and then enriched by more finishes, continues now with the new Meridiano and Tropico.
Meridiano
The Meridiano lamp is emphasised by the refined curves and the magic of blown glass, the lighting creating surprising and fascinating effects, designs and atmospheres. The Meridiano lamp passes through opaline, coloured and transparent layers and is made of shapes of glass and metal that collect, contain and diffuse light into space
The miniaturisation of the light source, characteristic of LED technology, is no longer a volumetric object but a point, a line and a surface. The light becomes free to fill the shapes that thus become abstract and iconic. In the new Meridiano lamp, the vertical cylindrical tube contains and diffuses the light in the transparent glass capsule, which defines its refined ovoid shape.
Meridiano is available in two sizes and is declined as a medium and large suspension, to be used individually or in a composition of multiples arranged in clusters. The table version is proposed in the medium size and has a dimmable diffused light..
The oval diffuser is made of transparent blown glass, smoked and pink with all versions combined with nickel-plated metal details. The internal diffuser is in Pyrex glass painted inside.
Tropico
Tropico is a spherical cap in opaline glass, lowered and fixed by a large mirror metal stud. Just as the Tropico area is the only one in which the light is perpendicular in the solstice days, the lamp has the same peculiarity.
Tropico has a discreet and enveloping light that catches the eye. The family is made up of the wall/ceiling and table light versions, both proposed in three different sizes. The wall lamp/ceiling light is a discreet and refined form that diffuses the light into the space and designs the wall behind it. In the table version, the diffuser is positioned on a cylindrical base in precious marble that characterises the lamp and contributes to making it an elegant and refined object, a new icon of the domestic landscape.
