The Dada XY system designed by Francesco Meda is a universal, custom made accessorised system that can match different models of Dada kitchens, whether wall mounted or self-standing islands.
Inspired by the Cartesian coordinates, Francesco Meda is designing a new functional, modular and flexible system where every kitchen accessory is where it should be and within easy reach.
The XY system develops vertically and horizontally by means of a series of extruded profiles. The basic “axis” of the design is a central accessorisable channel, featuring adhoc spaces for items such as knife holders, chopping boards, spice jars, salt & pepper grinders, electric plug units, smoke extraction hoods and plate racks. Even the sections themselves can house different sliding accessories, including a wooden 130cm x 130cm board that can be used as an informal table.
The same track also allows for uprights to be installed vertically which can support a system of aluminium shelves that can be finished in different materials such as wood or stainless steel. Thanks to this flexibility, different configurations can lead to different visual effects. For example, warmer if wood is used or more industrial and technical in the case of stainless steel. The underside of the shelves also features a recess to house LEDs.
The shelf-bearing uprights can feature a section for inserting the hooks on which to hang gadgets, wine glasses or kitchen paper rolls. This rail offers great freedom of movement for the accessories which can move and be freely positioned in the kitchen yet remain always within easy reach.
The XY system is open and flexible which will lend itself to further functions in the future, thanks to new layouts and types of use.
Dada focuses on proposing sustainable solutions, using materials such as aluminium, glass and wood which, subject to being dismantled into mono-material components, can be sent for recycling, thereby contributing to virtuous processes in an environmentally friendly circular economy.
