Standard Geometries is a dialogue between one shape and the space surrounding it and was designed by David/Nicolas for Del Savio 1910 as one of nine collections from collaborations that make use of ten different types of marble.
Starting from a ‘standard’, namely a geometric shape (such as a square, a triangle, a diagonal line) repeated in parallel, perpendicular or oblique sequences, David/Nicolas created one single, unified unit by combining modules made of different materials, such as marble or concrete resin.
The empty interstices of marble, conventionally seen as mere residual spaces to fill up, define the visual structure of this product, as well as the vibrant composition of its surface.
Del Savio 1910, previously Del Savio Marmi, collaborated with the Zanellato/Bortotto studio who also involved two other studios, Mae Engelgeer and David/Nicolas on the projects.
All materials in the projects are Italian, and the tradition of some of them is deeply rooted in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. All of the natural stones are produced and worked in Pordenone, in the headquarters of the Del Savio Company.
The slabs of the collection, characterised by thinness and lightness, could be customised to obtain versatile and personalised products. The ten marbles could be also combined to just as many types of cement, to realise a wide range of patterns.
