Serena Confalonieri Magnolia Mirror for The Circles

In her first collaboration with The Circles, Milan-based designer and art director Serena Confalonieri presents the Magnolia mirror collection.

Inspired by the design of plastic objects of the 60-70s, a period in which this material was perceived as highly innovative, and shown off in homes and offices, the Magnolia mirror is a unique addition to any interior environment. The designer’s approach came from the desire to compare different eras and values and to highlight a renewed production technique capable of turn plastic into a sustainable and regenerable material.

Magnolia MirrorThe Magnolia mirror collection is composed of objects with a strong decorative and scenographic impact that do not hide their retro inspiration, referring to the fashion and colors of the time, reinterpreting it in a contemporary way, as also seen on the latest high fashion catwalks.

Magnolia MirrorThe link with the imagination and the world of fashion is a deliberate homage to the background and history of the company. Magnolia includes two wall mirrors, with a lively and deliberately pop character, which figuratively reproduce this plant’s flowers.

Serena Confalonieri is known for her work in the field of product, interior, graphic, and textile design, collaborating with companies and artisans of excellence both in Italy and abroad.

Magnolia MirrorHer strongly distinctive style is built around a graphic, colorful, and emotional vision, mixed with decorative hyperboles and geometric shapes. Unexpected subjects, chromatic and material combinations, together with anthropomorphic and zoomorphic inspirations, give life to projects where design is given an ironic twist and, vice versa, playfulness is at the root of the project.

Magnolia MirrorSerena has been selected for several design residencies and workshops both in Italy and abroad (USA, Mexico, Portugal). Her projects have been featured in many important publications and trade magazines (The New York Times, Corriere della Sera, Il Sole 24 ore, Wallpaper, Interni, Ottagono, L’Officiel, Elle Decor…); also, she has received prestigious awards including two Honorable Mentions at the Young & Design Awards and the German Design Awards. Her works have been exhibited in well-respected design addresses such as the Milan Triennale and the Rossana Orlandi Gallery.
