Maya tiles from De Marchi

The Maya tiles, designed by Giacomo Totti for De Marchi are an ultrafine, handmade porcelain tile with a rich glossy surface and dense tactile feel.

The name is a reference to the Mayan civilisation of South America and the fine porcelain surface is inspired by the architectural styles and ancestral symbols, in an interplay of natural echoes between heaven and earth.

Highly customisable, the elements can be laid in multiple configurations to create geometric patterns and compose labyrinths, with a focus on how space – either large or small – plays a part in the final aesthetic.

Each three-dimensional element has a characteristic irregular, slightly-splayed shape that enhances the colour shading and reflects the light in a variable manner, highlighting the richness of the collection.

The colours, some of which are iridescent, match or contrast with each other and the spaces between them.

In addition to the intrinsic value of the material, the richness of surfaces is amplified by the eclectic style introduced by Art Director Giacomo Totti. With sophisticated references and refined aesthetics, he transports this age-old craft into the contemporary era, turning it into an innovative product in which exclusivity and personality abound.

Totti’s passion for fine materials and high craftsmanship is in keeping with De Marchi’s business strategy, which seeks new ways to optimise the manufacturing cycle and define production capacity. The ultimate goal, after all, is to meet the needs of projects of any scale, from small to medium and large, connecting with architects, interior designers and showrooms around the world to realise fine residential, hospitality and retail spaces.

The Maya tiles from De Marchi are available in a variety of sizes and formats depending on the element chosen as well as in the following colours: glossy cobalt, emerald, matt silk or lustre.
