The thoughtful design and impeccable documentation of this designer’s kitchen entry impressed the judging panel immensely. They acknowledged the designer’s clever re-working of the existing architectural details of the home, and sensitive formation of a warm and contemporary design. The panel loved the layering of texture in a mostly achromatic scheme, and congratulated the designer on a cohesive and attractive end result.

The service constraints of this unit dwelling called for compromise and careful planning in the new kitchen design. With limited options to relocate plumbing, the designer focused on the flow of the proposed new space, creating a light and open kitchen to meet the clients’ needs. Simple finishes allow the stunning water views afforded by the unit to take centre stage.

The designer expertly re-worked the architectural details of this existing home, opening up the 1990s kitchen with a warm and contemporary design. A gently curving wall was clad in an exquisite Japanese textured tile, forming a perfect backdrop for an achromatic colour scheme. An American Oak solid timber top draws attention for all the right reasons; with a Black Japan stain and beautifully detailed edge profile, the curvaceous table takes pride of place in this lovely space.

The judging panel admired the designer’s highly skilled space planning and excellent documentation, and deemed the design a clear winner. With its oversized vanities with generously-sized basins, a double shower and a luxurious freestanding bath, the renovated bathroom met and exceeded the client brief. The judges admired the finishing touches, too: with honed Kashmir Perla porcelain tiles, warm brown features and a lovely layering of whites, they deemed the palette and finishes applied by the designer to be as impressive as the layout.

Combined with large format charcoal tiles and walnut timber detailing, the magnificent porcelain marble tiles applied in this beautiful bathroom certainly met the clients’ criteria for timeless design and quality finishes. In a very well laid out floor plan, the grouping of superior finishes, fixtures and fittings make for a stunning design sure to be admired for many years to come.
