Woodio water-resistant wood washbasins combine state-of-the-art eco-friendly innovation with minimalist, timeless design. A pioneer in eco-design, Finnish design company Woodio’s ground-breaking washbasins are manufactured from the world’s first waterproof wood composite and represent the very best in Scandinavian design: a unique design language, high quality and eco-friendliness.
Woodio received the respected Design Plus powered by ISH 2019 award at the Frankfurt ISH 2019 fair.
Woodio manufactures ecofriendly and eye-catchingly stylish bathroom washbasins out of a completely new and innovative material: the world’s first water resistant solid wood composite that uniquely combines wood and resin. The man behind the innovation is Woodio’s CEO Petro Lahtinen, who has a PhD in chemistry.
“Woodio was born out of a fascination with the opportunities of contemporary wood technology. Our way of doing things is deeply rooted in the traditions of the Finnish wood industry, while, at the same time, bringing wood as a material to a whole new level, to the modern day”, Lahtinen says.
Woodio’s main products are washbasins that currently come in 16 different models from rounded to angular. The products, which are designed and made in Finland, are eco-friendly both in their materials and manufacturing processes.
Woodio’s products require zero maintenance and they are easy to clean. The wood composite is resilient to wear and does not react to changes in temperature. That is why Woodio products are also well-suited for public spaces and they are already used in hotels and restaurants. The washbasin’s durability is guaranteed with a five-year product warranty.
Coming in a wide variety of colours and different surface structures, the material can be molded into wall panels, kitchen counters, toilet bowls, small objects and other items. The appearance of the material can be customised almost endlessly with natural dyes and wood chips in different sizes.
Design Plus powered by ISH 2019 is an international competition for ISH exhibitors organised by the German Design Council for Messe Frankfurt. The competition honours products that intelligently combine technology and design. Aspects such as innovation, sustainability and energy efficiency play a significant role in the assessment.
