Molteni&C’s impressive stand at IMM Cologne in January 2020 spanned over 700 square metres and was designed by Vincent Van Duysen. Duysen was inspired by the houses of the great architects of the Mid 20th Century, where living and dining rooms interface and join a large, impressive Ratio kitchen.
Visitors to the stand followed a sensory path made of light and shadows, delicate shades and colourful accents, formal rigour and the warmth of home. In a refined trip through time, past and present communicate lovingly through the timeless elegance of the grand masters, the innovation of the most prestigious contemporary designers and the quest for perfection.
The interfacing living and dining room areas adjoined to a bedroom area where the Gliss Master wardrobe systems were enriched with the ingenious opening mechanism Sistema 7 and Master Dressing and had been arranged in different finishes and composition solutions.
The straight pure wall and ceiling volumes divided and emphasised the different spaces. These shifting volumes did not touch each other, creating horizontal and vertical visual filters. The result was a bright and open architecture, with large green islands inspired by Californian gardens. The mix of different materials such as walnut, travertine stone and palladiana flooring gave a strong character to each individual space.
Molteni&C presented new proposals for contemporary living created by the most prestigious names in international design: Vincent Van Duysen, Foster+Partners, Rodolfo Dordoni, Yabu Pushelberg, Neri&Hu, Nicola Gallizia and Gio Ponti.
The 2019 Collection of Molteni&C and Dada took centre stage in the entire presentation.
