For many years, the lighting industry has designed products with the sole aim of satisfying people’s visual needs, and with the increasing awareness of the concept of sustainability, people are becoming more and more sensitive to the potential energy savings offered by new LED luminaires.
Despite this, while plenty of data is available on energy efficiency and the average life of new light sources, little attention is paid to the opportunities they offer compared to the past.
Changing living conditions, above all in cities, as remote working increases and more time is spent at home and in closed spaces, offer us the challenge of creating more healthy and efficient environments. And the poor attention paid to the effects of artificial lighting on human health risks underestimating the negative ones, such as sleep/wake cycle disorders, bad moods, poor concentration and other conditions. In contrast, the biological efficacy of high quality light significantly impacts the brain’s concentration levels, physical and mental well-being and health generally.
With this in mind, Domus Line has designed a specific collection – D-MOTION – integrating patented technologies, EnabLED by Signify – Philips Lighting – that allows users to manage the luminaire parameters, selecting brightness and colour with a few simple actions. Combined, these two parameters are used to control the luminaires to suit the specific conditions of where they are installed, the activities performed and, of course, the user’s expectations. Following the circadian rhythm of the day, D-MOTION appliances can configure the flow and colour of the light, from the higher, colder morning values to the lower, warmer values in the evening, passing through the intermediate, neutral values of the afternoon.
D-MOTION luminaires and the related – integrated and remote – control systems are used to select the temperature and luminous flux in both dynamic or step mode, and can also be interfaced with the D-MOTION X-DRIVER devices and the DOMUS4U Bluetooth and DOMUS4U Wi-Fi apps, allowing the luminaires to communicate with a smartphone and via voice-controlled devices Amazon Alexa and Google Home. All the appliances – luminaires, control systems and power supplies – come with two-pole wiring, standard Domus Line Micro24 polarised male connector and voltage supply @24Vdc. In addition, using a simple adapter cable, each luminaire can also be configured during installation with standard control systems and power supplies in the user’s favourite colour temperature.
With the D-MOTION collection, Domus Line suggests an aware use of light to the market, helping to improve well-being and health, but above all, today more than ever, makes the home environment the centre of attention.
