Kreoo Bento

Designed by Matteo Nunziati, this is the absolutely gorgeous Bento basin from Kreoo, as seen at Salone del Mobile.Milano earlier this year.

Bento is a practical and functional countertop washbasin, characterised by the composition of five distinct interchangeable and removable marble elements. The design was inspired by the Japanese bentō, a box-tray equipped with internal section boxes to hold food. The bentō sections can be made in various shapes and materials and are always packaged in order to create an aesthetically elegant presentation, studying the foods colour combinations and how to place them neatly.

Kreoo-BentoThe main element, a rectangular bowl, is the shelf that houses the flow of water. And the three container-trays keep the accessories in an orderly manner. The elegance of the whole is emphasised by the masking of the drain, placed under the tray, which conceals the traditional connotation of the object, elevating it to an unusual and innovative design element.

Kreoo-BentoThe reference to this traditional Japanese object revolutionises the idea of a washbasin, conveying the spaces’ division into the object itself, with different containers and trays that coexist harmoniously and functionally.

Kreoo-BentoBento features an essential and pure geometry: it is a lengthened rectangle, with a height of 12cm and gently rounded corners, which are enhanced by the insertion of four elements inside the basin. With different depths, they have been designed as ‘containers’ of various sizes, again with a rectangular matrix, and are easily removable, interchangeable, and can be used in direct contact with water or – depending on the positioning of the tap – as trays in which to place soap or store bathroom accessories.

Kreoo-BentoBento is available in nine types of marble – Bianco del Re, Calacatta Classico, Bianco Carrara, Grigio St. Marie, Calacatta Viola, Persian Grey, Nero Marquina and Verde Imperiale.
