Ilo + Milo is a series of playful, sustainable, customisable, free-standing modular element and accessories that can be used to create any kitchen form and can be re-configured at any time to fit the user’s needs.
As seen in the SaloneSatellite exhibition at this year’s Salone del Mobile.Milano, Ilo + Milo was first exhibited at Stecca 3.0 in the Iso Design District in September 2021 as part of Milan Design Week. After the success of this exhibition, Ntaiana Charalapous, interior architect and co-founder of Dedaleo decided to design a new version of Ilo + Milo for this year’s event with a variety of new features.
Ilo + Milo 2.0 is composed of tubular stainless-steel modules measuring 60cm x 60cm and available in two different heights that can be completely rearranged and reconfigured in all of their parts. Colourful metal cupboards-cabinets, drawers and pull-out tops can be completely personalised and are separated from the structure so they can be rearranged, repainted, removed and replaced easily.
Sink, countertops and side panels are also customisable and removable. Special holes on top of every module can host accessories or additional modules in height, for example shelves, roll holders or other kitchen tools, or a top height extension and cabinets that can form a column.
The series includes rounded angular modules with glass tops that can be attached to the kitchen or be moved away to form a table with telescopic legs for adjustable height.
Ilo + Milo is a kitchen suitable for both indoors and outdoors. All materials used are sustainable, weather-resistant, washable and can be used/replaced/recycled with ease.
Ntaiana Charalapous is a licensed Cypriot Interior Architect. Her work is based in Milan and Cyprus and is focussed on creating unique, playful and flexible concepts that will have a positive impact on users’ lives.
