Our itinerary in detail
Mon 15th April
Arrive in Milan and check into our central hotel from 2pm. Relax and unwind before enjoying pre-dinner drinks and nibbles on the spectacular rooftop bar. Then head inside for a relaxing welcome dinner, a quick briefing, and a chance to meet your fellow attendees. Then it’s time for a good night’s sleep in preparation for a packed week.
Tues 16th April
Breakfast in the hotel then we’ll assemble in the foyer to make the trip on the metro out to the showground. Our hotel is located on a direct train line to the exhibition station which makes it very easy to navigate to the show. We’ll travel together as a group then enjoy free time at the show to look at what interests you most.
In the evenings, Milan comes alive with showroom openings, exhibitions and installations across the city. We’ll head out to enjoy some true Italian hospitality and soak up the amazing atmosphere of Milan design Week.
Wed 17th April
Breakfast in the hotel then assemble in the foyer to make the trip back to the show. Again, it’s your free time within the showground to visit the sections of the exhibition most relevant to you. We will also have some pre-booked stand tours.
Head back to the hotel when you are ready and, for those who are keen, we’ll meet in the foyer to head out for the evening into Milan for more showroom visits and events.
Thurs 18th April
Breakfast in the hotel then assemble in the foyer to make the trip back to the show – those feeling confident can head off when they are ready to make their own way there or those who’d like to travel in a group can go with our tour leaders. More free time to look around and we will also have some pre-booked stand tours. Then, again, more Milan Design Week events and exhibits in and around the city in the evening.
Fri 19th April
Your choice!
Check out of the hotel then you can head back to the show if you still have more to see. Or, come with us as we absorb the amazing details within the Brera Design District. Milan has 7 design districts and Brera is one of the most renowned. We’ll meet our guides at the Brera info point and enjoy a walking tour around the design district for a completely different type of inspiration.
Or, enjoy some R&R or shopping within Milan. We’ll meet back at the hotel for a late afternoon bus to our next stop – Verona. We’re sure you’ll all be pretty tired after a big week so this will be a free evening.
Sat 20th April
Free day to explore Verona (or sleep!) then dinner at our favourite restaurant just a few steps from the hotel.
Sun 21st April
Check out of the hotel then we’ll head to the amazing Contra Soarda winery for an architectural design tour of the facilities, including wine tasting and lunch. Then it’s on to Fano.
Mon 22nd April
Factory and showroom tours with our sponsor Pedini (courtesy Pedini Australia). Be some of the first Australians to catch a glimpse of the care and attention to detail that goes into creating these stunning Italian kitchens. Journey with Pedini to discover its long history and association with design. Lunch provided.
Tues 23rd April
Factory and showroom tours with our sponsor Gollinucci (courtesy Lincoln Sentry). This is a fantastic opportunity to tour the showroom and pull back the curtain in the factory to see the quality and precision involved in creating Gollinucci’s range of products. Lunch provided.
Wed 24th April
Factory and showroom tours with our sponsor Elica (courtesy Residentia Group). Join us as we take a walk through the Elica factory in Fabriano and attend a session on Elica design. Learn more about the company’s product range and take a behind-the-scenes look at how these amazing products come to life. Lunch provided.
Thurs 25th April
Not only is this ANZAC Day at home but it’s also Italian Independence Day so it’s a Public Holiday in Italy. We’ll use this day to travel to our next location, stopping for a picturesque lunch in Assisi and enjoy a walk through the city’s basilica.
Fri 26th April
Architectural Walking Tour – Terni.
Located in the region of Umbria in central Italy, the city is located in between the Nera river and the Serra stream. It was founded as an ancient Roman town but settlements in the Terni area predate this time. It is also known as the “City of Lovers” as its patron saint – St Valentine – was born here and their remains are preserved in its basilica/sanctuary. Terni is today an industrial town, with steel mills widely introduced during the 19th century which led to its nickname “The Steel City”. Join us and your local guides as we take a walk through this architecturally significant city for the last day of our tour.
Sat 27th April
Breakfast at your leisure at the hotel in Terni then check out and continue your travels as it suits you. The closest international airport is Rome which is approximately 1.5-2 hours on a direct train line. We will be on hand to assist with departures as needed and the hotel can store your bags if you wish to depart later in the day.
If this all sounds pretty wonderful (hint: we know it is!!) then you’ll need to book your place now! Full inclusions, itinerary, costs and all associated information can be found at aidt.com.au/
