Our AIDT group was invited to spend the day with Elica at its showroom and factory in Fabriano, Italy together with a fabulous dinner the night before.
We were treated to an amazing dinner by the seaside in Numana on the evening before our visit then we were up early the next day, ready to spend some time immersed in the world of Elica. Elica is distributed in Australia through Residentia Group.
With a strong reputation world-wide for quality rangehoods, Elica is known for pushing the boundaries of design and functionality. Established in 1970, Elica has become one of the leading manufacturers of rangehoods and other kitchen appliances and has established a strong position within Europe and the USA. Through its partnership with Residentia Group, Elica is set to make inroads into the Australian market in 2024/25.
Having won multiple awards for its product designs, Elica has now launched a new innovative product into the market (as displayed at this year’s EuroCucina). LHOV is a three-in-one appliance that combines an hob, oven and ventilation in one functional and beautifully-designed appliance.
Our day with Elica began with a corporate briefing where many of our group marvelled at the company’s domination of the market in other countries. We were interested to learn that Elica employs more than 2,500 people across 7 production sites around the world. The company holds more than 900 patents, with 300 focussed on cutting-edge technology and 600 on new design solutions. In terms of market share, Elica is a powerhouse with a 51.8% share of the Italian market and an 11.2% share of the European market. It has won a host of prestigious design awards for its innovative and beautiful products.
Then, we split into two groups with Group 1 visiting the Research & Development facility and Group 2 spending time in the showroom with Elica’s Chief Design Officer, Fabrizio Crisà. After a short coffee break, the groups swapped.
Hearing from Fabrizio personally about his passion for design, love of functionality and dedication to maximising both was a wonderful experience and he openly shared with both groups his process of design and some of the inspiration he used to kick-start a number of his most well-known products.
Following a delicious lunch, we stopped into Elica’s assembly factory and broke into smaller groups to tour this facility. It was a great opportunity to see behind the scenes and gain a further understanding of the dedication of the company to excellence across all aspects of its business.
In Australia, Elica products are distributed by Residentia Group.
