Zero-silica alternatives with Austaron Surfaces

Staron Solid Surfaces is a zero-silica product and with the upcoming ban on Engineered Stone, is an excellent alternative for your next project.

Available in Australia long before Engineered Stone became popular, Staron was first developed in 1992 and is manufactured from refined bauxite, a safe silica-free mineral, and blended with pure acrylic resin, resulting in a high-performing and safe Solid Surface.

Staron’s non-porous nature makes it both stain-resistant and easy to clean. It offers a durable, hygienic surface with high-strength and UV stability. Projects are easily customised with Staron as it can be easily thermoformed into graceful curves, intricate organic or fluted detail and routed to customise vertical applications.

There are many great Engineered Stone alternatives to choose from, however pairing these with Staron may provide the most beneficial for the ultimate fit-out solution. Options such as Laminate, Timber, Porcelain, Stainless Steel and Natural Stone are all considerable options for a fit-out but do come with some drawbacks such as water damage, unrepairable, unrenewable, chip-prone and porosity to name a few.

As illustrated in this kitchen by Kitchens by Kathie (KBK), Staron seamlessly integrates around walls and extends under the window to form a shelf, eradicating the need for unsightly join junctions that typically rely on silicone or grout. This seamless integration not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also ensures durability and ease of maintenance.

Additionally, in this project, Staron seamlessly extends from the bench to under the window, where it’s coved to eliminate grout and silicone in this moisture-prone area. Staron effortlessly clads to both internal and external corners of the wall, removing the necessity for joins. This meticulous integration showcases Staron’s versatility and practicality, offering not only a seamless aesthetic but also superior durability in areas prone to water exposure.
