One of the joys of a tour such as this is the opportunity to enjoy Italian hospitality at its best. On Sunday we left the beautiful city of Venice and headed south west to the home of Smeg in Guastalla, located in the food basket of Italy which includes areas such as Parma and Emilia-Romagna.
We’re here for three days as guests of Smeg and we’ll be visiting a variety of locations including factory tours and a chance to look around the company’s head office.
So, it seemed fitting to take this opportunity to introduce you to the latest-release Smeg oven.
The SAP3900X is the final product in Smeg’s collection of new generation, high performance ovens. It features a Thin Film Transistor display with ultra-clear graphics and an S-Logic interface for intuitive, simple control of the multiple functions, and the Smart Sense self-guiding cooking programme which is pre-loaded with 50 set recipes for meat, fish and vegetable dishes.
The Smart Sense system has been specifically-designed for Australian produce and Australian culinary preferences, and it allows users to add ten of their own recipes to the oven’s memory.
Other features include Eco energy-saving fan-forced mode plus nine other baking functions including fan assisted, supercook, fan grill and baker’s function.
Of particular note is the full pyrolytic cleaning function with a three-hour cycle for heavily soiled interiors and an eco-energy saving option which takes only 90 minutes and is designed for lightly-soiled ovens. Smeg’s unique EverClean enamel, with its silken finish on all interiors and baking dishes, increases the efficiency of the pyrolytic cleaning functions.
From a safety factor, the door is quadruple glazed to ensure its exterior is cool to the touch no matter how high the internal temperature. The oven is finished in fingerprint-resistant satin stainless steel and has a clever touch-release storage drawer for baking pans and cooling trays.
