Philippe Starck does it again. At the Axor flagship store in Milan this week, the company and the designer introduced a revolutionary washbasin mixer. The new tap design reflects Axor, the designer brand of Hansgrohe SE, and its drive towards the production of products that reflect the vitality and emotionality of water.
The relationship between Philippe Starck and Axor is well established and it is this long-term collaboration which has allowed the development of this new range. “In our long-time friend Philippe Starck we not only found the perfect design partner to create a shape around the vortex but also a valuable sparring partner in the developmental process,” says Philippe Grohe, Head of Axor.
Philippe Starck describes the new tapware as “a mixer that represents the absolute minimum: totally transparent, almost invisible and enclosing a miracle that is the vortex”.
It’s the organic, transparent design of the Axor Starck V that gives it such an exciting aesthetic. The open design of the spout contributes to the natural water experience and allows the mixer to effectively merge into its surroundings. The mixer is constructed from crystal glass and, with a flow rate of 4-litres per minute, it saves on water without compromising the user experience. An open, rotatable and detachable spout provides for flexible installation.
