Exploring home spaces

One of the stands at Marmomacc explored the concept of “exploring home spaces”. Various pieces from the home were displayed on the stand of Franchiumbertomarmi. The company worked with designers Paolo Armenise and Silvia Nerbi by developing the idea of marble being worked directly as a block. 33

In this way several elements have been created and among them big sized vases stood out: technology and craftsmen’s manual skill are compared with the new forms of design which are inspired by their classical time honoured tradition. The living room/kitchen was developed with a right balance between architecture and design; the dining room first, where the harmony and the lightness of tables made of white marble Statuarietto Gioia supported by a frame made of glossy brass,  holds its own conversation with the light mass of the fireplace whose chimney, made of White Zebrino marble, is suspended and rises into the sky.44

The brazier consists of a simple “cut in stone” with a free blaze coming from the top of the kitchen and is made of Calacatta marble and is the guiding thread through the whole course passing through the living room, the bathroom and a small garden.11

The flooring consists of strips of flooring made of stone, in big sizes and different finishing and typologies. In the bathroom, the shower area consists of Manhattan Grey marble slabs which from the floor turn to the wall in order to form one single pattern; frontally, the sculptural washbasin, made of Calacatta marble and supported by a wall made of Portofino crushed stone, stands out.

The winding of the wash basin follows the marble veining and becomes part of the pattern; the marble, although it is lightened in its mass, is the absolute protagonist hiding, behind itself, and can be used in any function. The great insight is having designed one single element which has the function both of gathering water and producing it; the electronic system to turn the water tap on, in fact, makes the water almost magically gush out of nothing and falls directly from the marble.

Marmomacc always offers some inspiring pieces – this was just one!
