Candana has shed a new light on showering with the Axor LampShower, which fuses both light and water, promising to bring a whole new dimension to the showering experience. Designed by Oki Sato, the creative brain behind acclaimed Japanese design studio Nendo, the idea of what a shower ‘should’ be has been discarded.
Sato dreams of the disappearance of boundaries, enabling different living areas to come together, and a shower where you can simply draw up a chair, switch on a light and relax.
The result – an astounding living room light that is a shower. Put poetically, the Axor LampShower brings the home to the bathroom. Light and water combine in an almost magical way to form an elegant and functional furnishing.
At first glance the LampShower is a simple wire frame lampshade with a standard light bulb that emits a warm ambient glow. However, on closer inspection, you’ll discover the rim of the shade is embedded with water jets that provide an enveloping rain shower with a water-saving flow rate of 12 L/min.
Power is supplied to the light through a connection cable and 12 volt power supply unit, which allows the light to be switched on and off separately via a switch. The clean lines and simplicity of the visual design and the combination of light and water impart a heightened sensual dimension to the shower.
In addition to the chrome version, the Axor LampShower is also offered in a range of special surface finishes such as gold, brushed nickel, matte black, and white.
Available in both wall-mounted and ceiling-mounted versions, the Axor LampShower is a magical and unexpected design that combines functions and blurs the boundaries between the bathroom and other living areas.
