We talk often about just how good design is in this country (just ask Brandon Gien!) I Salone finished yesterday and we are pleased to announce, that according to the Cosmit website, an Australian Company has taken out third prize in the Salone Satellite Awards for 2015.11

The Balance Pendant, designed and created by Viktor Legin of Studio Copper  is a lamp collection repositionable with a weight, which become a mobile sculpture. The judges said that “the idea of developing this project with very few elements and becoming an ornamental piece was a big consideration in the giving of this award.” 22

Copper incorporates in its philosophy a willingness to embrace nature and to consider all biological imperatives, including a sense of human emotion. Their designs therefore anticipate the needs of both the client, the end user and the whole community.

Balance Pendant

The Balance pendant is a thin steam bent timber LED light, which appeals as a single task light or in a cluster as feature lighting. The sliding counterweight allows the user to set light at the desired angle.33

Each Balance pendant is unique due to the organic nature of timber, the curve will vary slightly on each pendant adding the individuality of the product. The angle of the Balance will vary slightly dependent on humidity in the air, as the timber absorbs moisture. Available in American Oak, Spotted Gum or Black Walnut.

But the best news is the product is made in Australia – well done boys!!
